  1. Dear Prof. Gelman,

Apologies for asking it here – didn't see an appropriate place.

Suppose one has a small result in statistics
(say a proof that some estimator is consistent, a
simple counter-example to a conjecture, improvement of a known bound etc.). It's cute and nice but
not groundbraking. How&where should one publish it (if at all)? I thought of writing a short note of 2-3 pages and putting it on the archive, but is there a journal in statistics appropriate for such results? For computer science, information Processing Letters is an appropriate place i've used, but am not aware of anything similar for statistics.

    Best,

  2. Subnational units? Cool term.
As a reader, I'd like to suggest the following:
    (1) a "glossary" like Kristoff Koch has posted for consciousness, for your blog, and
    (2) a textbook list: basically of everything we'd need to learn to have a decent understanding of all your posts, particularly of a more technical nature.

  3. 1. I used to say "states or provinces," but "subnational units" is clearer.

    2. Here.

    3. I recommend my two books, for starters. And spending a lot of time doing data manipulation and modeling on the computer.
