Test run for G+ hangout for my Bayesian Data Analysis class

As announced earlier, I’ll be putting my Bayesian Data Analysis course on a G+ hangout. It meets each Friday 8h30 Paris time, starting 18 Oct.

Just to try things out, I’ll do a mini-hangout tomorrow (Thurs) 8h30. What I’ll do is set up the hangout, then post the url in a new blog post. I’ll then talk for a few minutes. You should be able to click the url into your browser and see me.

If this all works, I’ll do the same thing this Friday 8h30, with a new blog post and a new url.

  1. Just to confirm, this is CEST, right?

Not trying to be a pain in the tuchus, just noting that Europe and USA don’t return from Daylight Saving Time at the same point. Europe switches 10/27, USA switches a week later. So this distinction could actually matter to people.

  2. Just out of curiosity… Google says that the G+ hangouts will be automatically saved to a YouTube channel. Is this going to happen, or is there a way to record these? 8:30 CEST is about 2:30 AM on the U.S. east coast (EDT), and I’d like to be able to watch the lectures but I don’t know if I have the willpower for a 3-in-the-morning class on BDA.
