As announced earlier, I’ll be putting my Bayesian Data Analysis course on a G+ hangout. It meets each Friday 8h30 Paris time, starting 18 Oct.
Just to try things out, I’ll do a mini-hangout tomorrow (Thurs) 8h30. What I’ll do is set up the hangout, then post the url in a new blog post. I’ll then talk for a few minutes. You should be able to click the url into your browser and see me.
If this all works, I’ll do the same thing this Friday 8h30, with a new blog post and a new url.
Just to confirm, this is CEST, right?
Not trying to be a pain in the tuchus, just noting that Europe and USA don’t return from Daylight Saving Time at the same point. Europe switches 10/27, USA switches a week later. So this distinction could actually matter to people.
Sorry; fixed.
Just out of curiosity… Google says that the G+ hangouts will be automatically saved to a YouTube channel. Is this going to happen, or is there a way to record these? 8:30 CEST is about 2:30 AM on the U.S. east coast (EDT), and I’d like to be able to watch the lectures but I don’t know if I have the willpower for a 3-in-the-morning class on BDA.
I’d prefer for it not to be on Youtube, it’s just too embarrassing!
On the principle that it can’t hurt to ask, I would like to add my vote to the please-post-a-video tally. Even something short-lived, maybe 8hrs to < 1 day would be fine for anyone wanting to follow your lectures regardless of timezone.
Another vote for YouTube because of the time zone—how about putting it up unlisted or with a password you share. At least that way, the potential embarrassment won’t show up on Google…
i’d like to request it be on youtube too.
The same here, posting on youtube is appreciated.
+1 for prof Gelman’s embarrassment on YouTube
+1 vote for youtube
Please post it on youtube!
Excellent & Thanks. Plan to attend from SJC,CA. It will be 11:30 PM Thu. I assume it is a 1 hr class.
Cheers
The class is two hours, once a week.
